ASSESSOR MEETING MINUTES

JULY 10, 2008

7:00 P.M.  Called meeting to order.  Present:  Ellen Abelson, Richard Gorden and

                   Mark Mazur

1. The Administrative Assessor informed the Board that settlement agreement had been

reached for four Appellate Tax Board cases with two commercial properties.  The Board then examined the withdrawal notices for each case.

2. The Board granted the following abatements in final settlement of  their Appellate Tax Board cases:

Parcel 86-14   FY2007

Parcel 86-14   FY2008

Parcel 86-8-1  FY2007

Parcel 86-8-1  FY2008

3. The Board read a letter from an appellant in a pending Appellate Tax Board case.   The  appellant made a settlement offer for the case.  The Board reviewed the assessment of the property and decided to decline his settlement offer.

4. The Board reviewed the abatement application and the return of the taxpayer’s response to our request for information for an abatement request on parcel 115-3 and their Supplemental Tax on New Construction.

5. The Administrative Assessor described the status of the updating of our residential assessments for fiscal year 2009.

6. The Board was told that personal exemption forms and guidelines along with abatement forms are now available online through the Town’s website.

7. The Board voted to request authorization from the Commissioner of Revenue to issue

preliminary tax bills in fiscal year 2009.  Note that this does not obligate the town to issue preliminary bills, it simply gives the  town the option of doing so.
